The Chesapeake Light Craft Wood Duck 10

My son Harry just turned 7 years old and this kayak will be his.  We greatly enjoy fishing and I am planning to deck this out with all sorts of fishing hardware.  Harry helps out with the build here and there.

My daughter Maggie is 9 and we are building the Bolger Bobcat.  It will be hers when it is complete.

It took me one winter (about 45 hours) to build the Kaholo Stand-up Paddleboard from Chesapeake Light Craft.  It came out beautiful and I use it quite often.  I showed it at the Wooden Boat Show in Mystic, CT and got many offers from folks to purchase it.

0The Bolger Pointy Skiff

This was the first boat I built.  I used exterior grade plywood and materials from my local Home Depot.  The paint was Glidden.  The only “marine-grade” material used was West Systems Epoxy and some beach sand for the no-slip floor.

lyric_original sm1972 Kells 22 “Lyric”

Lyric was the first boat I purchased.  I paid $700 for her and she was in tough shape. Even when she was new, she wasn’t much of a boat.  This boat was more of a boat building classroom than a sailing vessel.  I put 1000’s of hours and dollars into her and sold her for $900 2 years later.

1980 Stur-dee Cat “Felix”

Felix was my first “real” boat.  She was 8′ shorter than Lyric, but she just felt like a quality built boat that was ready for anything.  I had a hard time parting with her as did my family.

This is my dream boat and the boat I currently sail.  Ever since I laid eyes on a Marshall Catboat, I have wanted to own one.  I purchased her in October 2011 and she and my family have been inseparable ever since.
